The regional coordinating body for Economics undergraduates across the five South-East states of Nigeria — united, purposeful, second to none.
The Nigerian Economic Students' Association (NESA) South-East Zone is the regional coordinating body for all undergraduate students of Economics across the five South-East states of Nigeria: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.
As an integral extension of the national NESA body, the Zone exists to promote cooperation, shared learning, and collective engagement among Economics students across universities in the region.
The core objective of the Zone is to transcend institutional boundaries by fostering a unified regional perspective on economic challenges and policy solutions — encouraging undergraduates to see themselves as part of a larger, interconnected intellectual community.
This unity is strengthened through cross-university networking, collaborative initiatives, resource sharing, and standardized skills development across the region.
Five pillars that define how NESA South-East Zone creates lasting value for its members and communities.
To unify all Economics undergraduates across the South-East Zone by providing a collaborative platform that transcends individual university boundaries and builds a cohesive intellectual community.
To equip members with essential practical skills in economic modeling, policy analysis, and research methodologies — ensuring professional readiness and competence that is truly second to none.
To develop responsible and ethical leaders through structured training in decision-making, transparency, accountability, and effective organizational management.
To encourage and facilitate the translation of academic knowledge into practical, evidence-based policy solutions addressing key socio-economic challenges within the South-East region.
To build and sustain strong collaborative networks involving students, faculty, alumni, and regional economic stakeholders for mentorship, internships, and long-term professional development.
"Nulli Secundus" — Second to None. A commitment we carry in every initiative, every conference, every member.
Five aspirations that chart the path toward becoming the foremost Economics student body in Nigeria's South-East.
To be recognized as the leading intellectual and professional body for Economics undergraduates in the South-East region of Nigeria.
To serve as the foremost regional incubator for economists distinguished by unified expertise, innovation, and solution-driven thinking.
To set the standard for ethical conduct and professional excellence among student organizations in Nigeria, reflecting the NESA motto, "Nulli Secundus."
To function as the leading student-driven force for sustainable socio-economic transformation and evidence-based policy advocacy in the South-East Zone.
To produce graduates whose collective competence and impact elevate the national profile of Economics departments across the South-East region.
To leave a lasting institutional mark on how Economics students organize, collaborate, and contribute to Nigeria's economic future — generation after generation.
The most visible expression of the Zone's impact is its Annual Zonal Conference — a flagship platform for intellectual engagement and unified discourse, bringing together students, academics, and stakeholders from across the region.
The first Zonal Conference was hosted by Abia State University, marking the formal consolidation of the South-East regional alliance.
Institutions including UNN, UNIZIK, ABSU and others come together for joint academic engagement and professional discourse.
A multi-stakeholder platform that bridges the gap between academic theory and real-world economic practice in the South-East.
